Sacramento may be get a half inch of rain this week
The New Year’s weekend across the Sacramento region may end with a sprinkling of showers in the valley and a dusting of snow in the mountains Sunday evening.
Forecasters expect the heaviest rain to hit Monday and into Tuesday, dumping about half an inch. Given the dry conditions here over the last two new years, any amount is welcome, said Johnnie Powell, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service Office in Sacramento.
Saturday: Overcast. High near 52.
Tonight: Low around 36. Light north wind.
Sunday: Late chance of rain with a high near 55 in the day. Low around 40.
Monday: A 30 to 50 percent chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with highs in the mid-50s.
Monday night: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 46.
Tuesday: Rain likely. Cloudy, with a high near 55; low around 43.
Wednesday: Chance of showers continues with a high near 55; low of 42.
Thursday: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 52.
