City approves lease for new restaurant in downtown’s Chavez park
A new restaurant is coming to Cesar Chavez park in downtown Sacramento.
The Sacramento City Council approved a lease Tuesday for a vacant, existing building in the park with Ernest Delgado, the operator of Mayahuel, at 12th and K streets.
Delgado hopes to open his new restaurant in Chavez park, 9th and I streets, in the spring.
Delgado will call his new restaurant La Cosecha, in English “the harvest,” an apt choice for an eatery in a park named for farmworker labor leader Chavez.
The restaurant space, which is owned by the city, has been vacant for a year. The Cafe Soleil operated out of the site for many years.
