Bright Underbelly: Artists painting giant mural under Sacramento freeway

When two Sacramento artists are finished with their much-anticipated “Bright Underbelly” mural project, shoppers at the city’s biggest farmer’s market will look up to see a spreading forest canopy — instead of the underside of a freeway.

Sofia Lacin and Hennessy Christophel are completing the work on 70,000 square feet of surface area on the underside of Highway 50 and the concrete pillars that hold it up.
