“Bait Bike” in Midtown leads to arrest of man in East Sacramento
On Tuesday, Regional Transit officers responded when the electronic tracking system showed that a “bait bike” placed near Capitol Avenue and 30th Street began to move. Bait bikes are equipped by the police with electronic tracking systems. When a criminal cuts the lock on a bait bike and begins to ride away, police dispatch is alerted and officers swoop in on the thief.
Officers found Jason Hasher, 33, in possession of the bait bike at Alhambra Boulevard and N Street, police said. He was arrested on suspicion of grand theft, possession of burglary tools and possession of stolen property.
