Geometric shape highlights changes to Oak Park

SACRAMENTO, Calif. —As Terrence Johnson points out the changes taking place in Sacramento’s oldest neighborhood, he is quick to stress that there’s a new name to become familiar with.

“It’s the ‘Triangle District’ within Oak Park,” said Johnson.

Once upon a time, Sacramento’s Oak Park neighborhood was perceived as a neighborhood not worth visiting.

“It was very negative perception that it was a ghetto and dangerous even though it wasn’t. It’s just that there was no real reason to come down here to this end of Broadway,” said Dave Estes, an Oak Park resident and partner in the soon-to-open Oak Park Brewing Company.

Now, Estes, Johnson and other business owners and residents are encouraging people to come see the dramatic changes taking shape throughout Oak Park’s Triangle District.
